rules for SHARED USED TCML Cluster 2024-09 /home is on a SHARED STORAGE (beegfs file system) with capacity of 146 TB and 230 million files rules (reason) that everybody can train neuronal networks that one user does not disturb other users and that less time for organization work is used 1. One user should not exceed 6 TB / 5 million files (is monitored every week; in past we had crashes with full filesystems) 2. login nodes and head node (maste01) is without GPU, please do not run jobs directly on either; instead use sbatch files, as described in the tutorial in the cluster documentation. Please make sure to define slurm jobs properly, as described in the documentation, by first copying the data set to the compute node before training on it. Improper use may cause high load and other users have delay to login. 3. Remote development (vscode-server, ld-linux-x86-64, ...) IS NOT PERMITTED on login1, login2 (disturbs with high load (peaks) and temporary files of huge size) is tolerated if monitoring/users does not reclaim if you need it for TCML: request permission, why specially on TCML if users generally need remote development: -> 8. Remote development is permitted only on login3 (physical server) 4. Finished with your work, please compress files or better cleanup your home folder (some time a file system check is mandatory which is much faster with less files) 5. If email address changes: send email to tcml-contact@listserv.uni-tuebingen.de accounts without valid email address will be deleted 6. Tutors/Courses: student accounts will be deleted after courses Summer courses: ending September, 30th Winter courses: ending March, 31st for creating accounts: send a list of email addresses of students in the course If users have longer projects we can create regular accounts (to remember studxyz and studxzz need longer is not possible) 7. Admin of TCML is also in "Rechnerausschuss mit FB-Leitung" If students need remote development servers -> I can tell/promote If students need remote development servers: also inform "Fachschaft"
